OVERVIEW
This SOP establishes consistent professional standards for bathers and provides a foundation for determining when a bather is ready to learn additional grooming tasks. Bathing and preparation directly affect the groomer's time and the finished result, so the role requires more than simply washing a pet. The standards emphasize safe handling, complete cleaning, thorough rinsing, appropriate drying, brushing, preparation, equipment care, attention to detail, communication, and professional conduct.
The SOP provides a repeatable process for training and evaluating bathers. It covers preparation of the station, safe handling and bathing, rinse checks, drying, brushing and assigned preparation, inspection before handoff, communication, and resetting the work area. Managers and trainers can use the readiness standards, review areas, documentation guidance, and implementation checklist to identify training needs and determine when the bather can begin taking on selected additional duties.
