OVERVIEW
The Multi-Location Staff Training Procedure exists to ensure employees receive consistent instruction regardless of which location, mobile unit, or future franchise operation they work in. As a business expands, training must become documented, repeatable, and measurable rather than depending on verbal communication, memory, or the teaching style of an individual employee. The procedure establishes a common foundation for safety, grooming, client service, pet care, and daily operations.
The SOP covers new employee orientation, position-specific training for groomers, bathers, reception staff, and managers, as well as cross-training and temporary staffing between locations. It establishes Lead Trainer responsibilities for demonstrating procedures, monitoring progress, correcting mistakes, documenting training, and maintaining company standards. Training records include orientation, safety, equipment, continuing education, certifications, performance reviews, skills assessments, cross-training, and manager development. The Trainer Approval and Competency Approval systems provide criteria for trainer readiness and independent work, while the Training Audit directs management to review employees, trainers, materials, equipment, scheduling, staffing, and work environment when inconsistent work repeatedly occurs.

BUSINESS BENEFITS
A standardized training process supports consistency in employee instruction, grooming quality, client service, pet handling, safety, and daily operations across locations. Documented training creates accountability and helps maintain common expectations when employees transfer between locations or assist during staffing needs. Defined trainer responsibilities help separate company requirements from personal preferences, while competency approval provides documented outcomes for independent work, limitations, supervised practice, or retraining. Cross-training can provide additional staffing flexibility during vacations, illnesses, busy periods, and new location openings.

IMPLEMENTATION NOTES
Implement this procedure whenever opening another location, hiring employees, transferring staff, opening a mobile unit, developing franchise systems, retraining employees, or conducting annual training reviews. Use the same current training materials and company standards across locations, and maintain one controlled source for training materials. Designate qualified trainers, document orientation and position-specific training, verify skills, and record competency outcomes. Training records should follow employees across authorized locations. Mobile employees should receive additional vehicle, route, water, power, solo-emergency, maintenance, and driving instruction as applicable. Complete the Sign-Off and Implementation Sign-Off to document approval and review.
